NEWS ~ Artificial intelligence: this American pretended for a month that he was traveling
An American internet user used a boosted version of the AI Stable Diffusion, to generate snapshots of a month in his life. Posted on his Instagram account, the ultra-realistic photos show him traveling to New York, where he met an imaginary friend. Everyone believed it.
There are the deepfakes, the crazy artistic works created by Dall-e, or the surprising artificial intelligence of the chatbot ChatGPT, now here are the fake slices of life invented by an AI. Kyle Vorbach, an American Internet user from Los Angeles had the AI of Stable Diffusion simulate the daily life of a month of his life. The AI made him go to New York on a trip and he was even able to meet an imaginary friend. All the relatives of the Internet user believed in these stories totally invented by the AI.
Based on machine learning, Stable Diffusion is good at generating very realistic images based on descriptions. It was while trying to create a new profile picture that the user embarked on this adventure.
Ultra-realistic photos:
Disappointed with the result, he used a clone of Stable Diffusion more powerful than the version open to everyone. He managed to boost this AI and made it ingest hundreds of pictures of his face. He also trained the AI with images of a celebrity who looks like him. It was Ryan Gosling.
After these manipulations, the AI delivered an ultra realistic photo of him. Convinced of the result, for a whole month, he published on Instagram a series of photos imagined by Stable Diffusion. This is how his clone found himself walking in Central Park in New York. It was here that he was able to take a few shots with his imaginary friend. The photos were credible enough that the publications of these four weeks did not arouse much interest in the end with his relatives, except from the moment he revealed the deception.
